Tune in to hear the voices of tomorrow! During this week’s 5-day Summer Podcast Workshop, students actively engaged in all stages of podcast creation. They began by sharing their favorite podcasts and brainstorming topics, leading to the creation of their shows: “Talk To Us” on friendship, “Geek Gamers” on Minecraft, “The AMBER Alert Podcast” on the alert system, and “So Many Sounds” on music genres. They learned about podcast formats, outlined scripts, and received peer feedback. They practiced using podcasting equipment and software, recorded their episodes, and edited them with guidance. Students were introduced to concepts regarding promotional content for social media, writing bios, and developing a marketing strategy. The workshop culminated in a launch party, where they presented their polished podcasts to an audience, celebrating their achievements and newly acquired skills.
The class was presented thanks to ArtsQuest’s Arts In Education partnership through the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and was taught by the team behind the Lehigh Valley Cold Cases podcast.
