The Bethlehem Area Public Library has an opening for a part-time Branch Clerk at our South Side Branch (400 Webster St., Bethlehem, PA 18015). The position is 15 hours per week with a hourly pay of $14.59 . PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal, and FBI Fingerprint clearances are required.   • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to serve patrons in a calm and friendly manner
  • Physical ability to stand for several hours, retrieve material from all shelves, shelve material on standard library shelving, and move carts loaded with books
  • Ability to listen and clearly communicate with patrons in person, on the telephone, or via email

JOB SUMMARY

The Branch Clerk is responsible for general library tasks, including circulation and shelving activities.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Check-out and check-in of library materials
  • Register patrons for a library card
  • Renew items at the desk or by phone
  • Clean media and books, as needed, upon return
  • Help patrons find materials on the shelves
  • Reserve materials for patrons
  • Answer the telephone and direct calls to the appropriate staff member or take messages
  • Assist patrons with photocopying and printing
  • Help patrons with basic computer functions
  • Keep all circulation and office supplies stocked
  • Learn new procedures and upgrades as they occur
  • Shelve materials
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor

JOB SUMMARY

The Administration/Finance Technician assists the library’s accountant, full-time Administration/Finance Technician, Assistant Director, and Executive Director with daily office procedures.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Formatting and printing letters and other documents using Word processing and other computer software programs
  2. Typing correspondence, including thank you letters for donations, and reports
  3. Sorting and distributing mail; preparing outgoing mail
  4. Assisting with counting daily cash receipts
  5. Filing
  6. Producing in-house printed materials on duplicator
  7. Recording memorial books
  8. Assisting with payroll and deposits
  9. Maintaining equipment file, updating equipment cards (service/repairs) as bills are paid prior to filing (Admin copier/elevator)
  10. Answering telephones
  11. Mailing out the bills and checks
  12. Handling meeting room reservations
  13. Counting money from sales, such as book sales
  14. Other duties as assigned

Part-time Custodian/Driver

The Bethlehem Area Public Library is seeking a part-time Custodian. The position is 25 hours per week and consists of second shift work (typically 4:30-9:30pm or 5:30-10:30pm) and rotating weekends and holidays. The pay is $19 per hour. The Custodian assists the Buildings Supervisor in cleaning, building and vehicle maintenance, general repairs, and security at the Main and South Side libraries. Job Summary

The custodian assists the Buildings Supervisor in cleaning, maintenance, general repairs and security at the Main Library, delivers items between the Bethlehem Area Libraries and District Libraries (Hellertown, Nazareth, and Northampton), and carries out some maintenance of library vehicles.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Janitorial duties at both buildings, but mostly at the Main Library
  2. Buildings maintenance
  3. Buildings security
  4. Vehicle maintenance
  5. Deliveries to Branch and district libraries
  6. Rotation of emptying of book drops at the libraries on holidays and weekends
  7. Participation in various events held at the library as driver or assistance with event set up, take down, and maintenance
  8. Other duties, as assigned
