When was the last time you had the opportunity to picnic with a president? Bring a blanket and a lunch to the west lawn of the Main Library to hear tales from Lincoln’s boyhood at noon on Saturday, May 11. No registration. More here…
Lincoln, his personal life and his presidency will be brought to life at 2 p.m. on Saturday by award-winning actor Jim Getty. Getty has portrayed the famous president at the Kennedy Center, The Reagan Presidential Library, The Library of Congress, and the National Theater in Washington. “President Lincoln” will field questions at a “press conference” and pose for photographs following the dramatic presentation.
Jim Getty’s visit is underwritten by a partnership of Northampton Community College and the Pennsylvania Humanities Council and is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
Both programs are free. Registration is not required for the picnic, but registration is required for the 2 p.m. performance. Register online now. Parking is available in the garage on Saturdays.
