If you like cookbooks there will be something here for you. There are many “like new” fiction titles and a lot of teen material. You’ll have your pick of coffee table books also. There are also great resources for teachers.
Bethlehem Area Public Library invites the public to celebrate the spookiness of the season with a choice of four programs. On Tuesday, October 25 at 6:30 pm both the Main Library, 11 W. Church Street, and the South Side Branch, 400 Webster Street, will host family Halloween parties. Come in costume for stories, crafts, and games. Registration is required at the South Side Branch, only.
Author Katherine Ramsland brings tales of the macabre at Who’s Out There: The Menace of Ghosts, Rippers and Serial Creepers on Tuesday, October 25 at 6:30 pm at the Main Library. The program will include discussion of the prolific writer’s latest books, Confession of a Serial Killer and The Ripper Letter. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
Students in grades 6 to 12 are encouraged to compete in the Teen Fear Factor on Wednesday, October 26 at 6:30 pm at the Main Library. Dress in costume for the disgusting challenges. Prizes will be awarded to top competitors. No registration.
The Library’s Learn and Grow program for toddlers, ages 1 to 3, offers educational toys and activities, as well as helpful connections to community early childhood development professionals. Parents have a chance to meet individually with childhood experts to ask questions and raise concerns about their child’s emotional, physical and mental health.
Knit a beautiful scarf as your first project at the South Side Branch on Saturday, September 24. Instructor Teddy Maxwell will teach technique and share tips from 1 to 3 pm. Return on Saturday, October 8 for individual instruction and to complete the project. All yarn will be supplied but bring size 8 knitting needles.
Local author and poet Michael B. Judkins will visit for an intimate reading of selected poems from his new work, Interlude to Sentimental Me at the South Side Branch on Saturday, September 10 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Enjoy his unique poetry and have an opportunity to ask him questions. Following the reading, Michael will lead a workshop to help one identify their writing style and improve their writing skills.
