kindergartenTo prepare your five year old for their first day of school, the Main Library has planned a special event for kindergarten-bound children. We believe that children should love and enjoy kindergarten and that this can be accomplished by providing gentle and fun learning experiences. Stories about kindergarten, songs and activities will get your child ready for their big day. Choose from two sessions: Tuesday, August 23 at 10:30 am or Wednesday, August 24 at 6:30 pm.  More here

50History30These are not the photos that you take on vacation abroad. Gary Mark Smith will show some of his street photographs from around the world at the Main Library on Monday, August 15 at 6:30 pm. Smith was raised in Bethlehem, but has since visited 75 countries and recorded everyday life on the most dangerous streets in the world. His travels have taken him to El Salvador and Nicaragua during the unrest of the 1980s, the collapse of communism in Europe and the Soviet Union, the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in 2001, and most recently, the slums of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

He will share stories about some of the photographs in his just-released book, GOMA: The Poetry of Everyday Life in the Most Miserable Place on Earth. His book will be available for sale.
